Off Grid Solar Calculator

How to use the solar calculator

Use our solar calculator to estimate how much solar power you will need to supply your needs.

The calculator results are based on the overall percentage of usage you nominate. Some items you select may only be used for a few minutes a day – if at all. Because of this the calculator may over-estimate the capacity of the equipment you will actually need.

The calculator result will indicate the kVA (Kilo-Volt-ampere) size inverter you would require, how many solar panels (in Watts) you would need and battery size in kWh (kilo-Watt-hours)

Click the item button to select or deselect an item. You can also remove an item by clicking the ‘trash’ icon to the right of the item at the bottom of the calculator. Use the ‘Custom Appliance’ field to add extra items and specifications.

For appliances that may be used for few minutes a day use the following guide:

5 mins = 0.12 hours
10 mins = 0.16 hours
15 mins = 0.25 hours
20 mins = 0.33 hours
30 mins = 0.5 hours
45 mins = 0.75 hours
60 mins = 1 hour: Hours and minutes therefore would be entered as 1.5 hours etc

Click to select the equipment and appliances and then hit the ‘Calculate’ button when you have finished. Fill in your details on the form and hit ‘Email me the PDF Report’ to send the report to your inbox. We will contact you to follow up.
